Get HIGH on failure

I was speaking with my mother-in-law this week. She was admiring me for my entrepreneurial ability. She was pondering nostalgically about the fact that she never had that spirit and wondered what she could have done in her life if she had. Then she said something interesting. She finished her thought with a sigh and said, "It is what it is." And there lies the difference. An entrepreneurial mind would never say, "It is what it is". We think, "What should it be and how can I make it so?"

What most people don't realize is that talent is not as important as taking initiative. Few people have the will to do what it takes, and even fewer have the persistence to follow it all the way through.

“Sheer persistence is the difference between success and failure.”

– Donald Trump

“When I was young, I observed that nine out of ten things I did were failures. So I did ten times more work.” – George Bernard Shaw

Don’t let the fear of failure become an obstacle in your quest to build you business. Inaction will prevent you from achieving what could be one of your greatest successes. It might also turn out to be a colossal failure. But you must be comfortable with either outcome because success is only success until your next failure. Success kneels before failure and begs for the opportunity to learn from it and do even better.

Today’s self-made billionaires got to where they are today through persistence. Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Richard Branson and James Dyson did not despair when faced with failure. Neither should you. Each time you learn from failure, you earn a shard of wisdom to add to your arsenal of knowledge.

“It is fine to celebrate success, but it is more important to heed the lessons of failure.”

– Bill Gates

“Do not fear mistakes. You will know failure. Continue to reach out.”

– Benjamin Franklin

“Reward excellent failures. Punish mediocre successes.”

– Tom Peters

Dream your impossible dream and don’t be scared to fail. So what are you waiting for? Get out there and fail!
