You’ve got 5 seconds to show your chunks.

Capture the attention of an impatient audience.

You can’t watch anything on the Internet these days without being forced to watch the first few seconds of an ad. Most of us wait in anticipation for that little button to read “Skip ad” so we can get on with it already.

So how do you get your message across if people are so eager to skip it?
Geico recently came out with some very clever ads called “Unskippable”. These ads begin like any other but they “end” so quickly that you’ve all but forgotten about skipping it. Your eyes are glued to the screen wondering what will happen next. It’s genius!

Here are two of my favourite “Unskippable” ads from Geico. They do a great job at capturing your attention right away.

You’ve only got about 5 seconds to make an impression. This advertising tactic not only works in your commercials but also on your website or any other advertising channel that has the potential to be skipped. Why not beat them to the punch?

Capturing your audience’s attention in the first few seconds is crucial. If you fail to do this, you risk losing them. People typically only read about one quarter of the text and skim over the rest. You need a hook. Just be careful to not overdo it. Brandable chunks are a great tool to use in those first few crucial seconds.

How will you capture your viewer’s attention in the first 5 seconds?
